This article includes two sections that apply to different versions of Little Reader. Please select the version of Little Reader installed on your computer below:
The following section applies to Little Reader 3.x:
NOTE: This feature is only available with Little Reader Pro.
With Little Reader, your baby will not only learn to sight-read, but will also be guided to decode the written language in an intuitive manner using our Pattern Phonics™ system. This system enables you to split words into syllables or "parts" - creating a visually comprehensible way of showing pronunciation stress and highlight certain consonants, vowels and combinations!
You can create your own Phonics Categories and Playlists in the same way your own word Categories and Playlists were made:
- Go to the Play & Edit screen and choose to view Categories.
- Click on the NEW button at the bottom of the Lesson Panel to create a new Category for your new Phonics set.
- Click on the NEW button at the bottom of the Word List to add a word to your new Phonics Category. This will open a New Word window.
- In the Word(s) area, type in your new phonics word - you can divide the word into syllables or letters by simply adding a "/" between the parts.
Example: Brill/Kids, dad/dy, but/ter/fly
- After adding your new phonics words, click on the SAVE button.
- Click on the Settings button at the top right of the Play & Edit screen. Toggle the Advanced tab of your Category and turn on the Split Display Mode by checking the box labeled as Split Colors (bottom part of the Word Slide box).
This will make each part of your presentation appear in different colors, highlighting each part of the word!
