This article includes two sections that apply to different versions of Little Reader. Please select the version of Little Reader installed on your computer below:

Little Reader 3.x

Little Reader 2.x

The following section applies to Little Reader 3.x:

NOTE: This feature is only available with Little Reader Pro.

To quickly change the playback settings for ALL of your Little Reader lessons, you can use the Override function. If you'd like to change the settings only for a specific set of lessons, you can use the Edit Multiple Items function instead.

APPLYING GLOBAL PLAYBACK SETTINGS TO ALL LESSONS

When the Override button is turned on (green light), all playback settings set in the Override Settings window will take effect during playback, disregarding any playback settings previously set in the Playback Settings panel of each Course, Playlist, or Category. This function changes your lessons' playback settings temporarily - this means the original settings for each lesson will not be changed, and once you turn Override off Little Reader will play your lessons using their default playback settings.

You may also choose to override specific settings so that only those settings will be applied during playback, and the rest of the playback settings will be left as previously configured for each Course, Playlist, or Category. For example, if only the Split Display Mode override setting is turned on, all the words played back will be shown in split mode, even for Categories originally set to a specific color.

To use the Override function:

  1. Open Little Reader and go to the Play Courses or Play & Edit screen.

  2. Go to the Play Panel at the bottom of the screen and click once on the Override button to turn it on (the light will change from red to green).

  3. Next, click on the cog button beside the Override button to open the Override Settings window.

  4. In the Override Settings window, click once on the button beside the setting you want to customize to turn it on (again, the light will change from red to green), and after this you will be able to change the setting according to your preferred option or value by selecting "show more" on the side.

  5. You may repeat step 4 for the other settings you want to change - for example, if you'd like to set a specific Auto Forward delay speed for all of your lessons, make sure you turn on and adjust all of the necessary Auto Forward settings.

If you want to quickly turn all available override settings on or off, simply click on the button for "Set all to on/off" at the lower left corner of the Override Settings window and adjust the settings accordingly.

  6. Once you're done customizing your override settings, click on Save, and your override settings will be applied the next time you play your Course, Playlist or Category!

NOTE: To turn Override off, just click once on the Override button (this time the light will change from green to red). Turning Override off will not reset your override settings.

CHANGING PLAYBACK SETTINGS PERMANENTLY FOR MULTIPLE LESSONS

With the Edit Multiple Items function you can change playback settings for more than two Courses, Playlists, or Categories all at once, rather than changing settings for each lesson one at a time. This function allows you to permanently change how a group of lessons are played back - you won't be able to restore the default playback settings for this group of lessons, but you can keep changing the settings for this group as necessary.

To edit multiple items:

  1. Open Little Reader and go to the Play & Edit screen.

Depending on which lessons you want to edit, click on Courses, Playlists or Categories.

  2. Select the lessons that you want to edit by holding down your Ctrl key while selecting each lesson, OR select one lesson then hold your Shift key as you select the last lesson in the list. You can also select a folder or multiple folders if you'd like to edit all lessons inside the folders.

  3. You will notice that once you've selected a few lessons or folders, an Edit button will appear in the right side of the screen, as shown below. Click on the Edit button to open the Edit Multiple Items window.

  4. In the Edit Multiple Items window, click once on the button beside the setting you want to customize to turn it on (the light will change from red to green), and after this you will be able to change the setting according to your preferred option or value.

  5. You may repeat step 4 for the other settings you want to change - for example, if you'd like to set a specific Letter Casing, Font Type and Color for your selected lessons, make sure you turn on and adjust all of the necessary Words settings.

If you want to quickly turn all available settings on or off, simply click on the button for "Set all to on/off" at the lower left corner of the Override Settings window and adjust the settings.

  6. Once you're done customizing your playback settings, click on Save, and the settings will be applied to all of your selected lessons!
