Sometimes you may experience performance problems in your iOS mobile device such as apps or files that frequently crash, hang or run too slowly -- often, restarting your device helps resolve these issues. Restarting your device may or may not save any unsaved work that you have, but it will not delete or remove the rest of your files or apps.
NOTE: If you are in the middle of updating your device firmware, DO NOT restart your device until the update has been completed. Doing so may corrupt your device and may result in lost files.
To restart your iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch:
- Hold down the Sleep/Wake button at the top of your device until a red "Power Off" slider appears on screen.
- Tap the Power Off button and slide it towards the right side of the bar to turn off your device. Wait a few seconds until your device turns off completely. We recommend that you wait for a few minutes before attempting to restart your device.
- Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears on screen.
- Your device will restart in a few seconds.
